"To love, to drink and sing", as bequeathed Alain Resnais

At the 36th International Film Festival in the framework of the "Divine euphoria" show "Love, drink and sing" Alain Resnais, the last, very sincere and kind of self-portrait picture. In parting, the French director chose the most humane and wise genre - comedy.
Surprisingly, the last film of the artist literally became his farewell to the world - decent, cheerful, life-affirming. Alain Resnais died in March of this year, he was 91. "To love, to drink and sing" participated in competition at Berlin Film Festival and received the FIPRESCI prize, and the director himself - a reward for the discovery of new ways in the cinema. At the premiere, he was unable to come, nor wait for the movie was released. But here we are faced with an example where the product to work for its author, acting as an easy, fun and inspiring, if the word is appropriate in this case, the complete path.
The film "Love, drink and sing" Alan went to play Eykborna "Life of Riley". Old acquaintances, Colin, Catherine and Tamara are going to play in the play, but learn that George (he is particularly close to her husband Jack Tamara) is terminally ill. Deciding to support him in this difficult time, they call each other to participate in the presentation. The last months of life of this amazing man (that it extraordinary, convinced everyone, especially women) for many will be a period of awareness and at the same time turned into a real comedy.

George will cause admiration, awe, cause to fight for themselves four beautiful women, including his ex-wife Monica and daughter Tamara sixteen Tilly, and their men - jealous and worried. And all this he will be able to do so and will not appear on the screen.
The action takes place in York, England and is nominally present: the actors speak French, views of the town there are only at the beginning of the film, and then replaced by the illustrations and abstract decorations. Place becomes conditional, and theater space of the painting feels like home.
Estrangement except the ephemeral protagonist is enhanced by the absence of the main event, which prepared the characters - we did not see the play, they play. All this was a rehearsal, rehearsal but what? The big question is inevitably accompanied by the end of life.

George (played by women his name always sounds breathy, they avert their eyes coquettishly) left a lot of mysteries (in addition to the planned intizhek love): "Do not you understand that in his head," "What he meant to show - maybe so he was trying to arrange our lives? "Riley, life, death - the conventions, so you should not take it all too seriously.
Alain Resnais, collecting their favorite actors and act out the story with the passing of a certain George (or person), spoke largely about himself. Taking off just such a film at the end of his life, the director bequeathed to hold it under the major key melody. By the way, the composition of Strauss, sounding a leitmotif in the film, and is called - "Love, drink and sing."
Inspiring, joyful and life-affirming comedy advises to be adults, not children's losing enthusiasm, and be sure to pause - so that the audience could laugh.
