This piece wardrobe appeared in Uzbekistan near the middle of the XIX century. and was obligatory for all women until the 1917 revolution jegde were made of different, including expensive fabrics of different colors, often decorated with ornaments, braid. There were also special wedding options that were kept in the family and passed from mother to daughter.

The same article of clothing with the same name had spread among women karakalpachek, but had one difference: jegde was without chachvan and girls face was completely open.
