History of striptease: from Cuernavaca to Burlesque
Striptease - this term, combining two English words: «strip» - «undress" and «tease» - «tease." In the conventional sense, it means slow beautiful dance with a gradual strip.
First strip was performed at the famous Parisian cabaret "Moulin Rouge" in February 1893. The lady who dared to appear before the public in the guise of Eve, was fined 100 francs - a considerable sum in those days. But rumors about this extravagant act immediately reverberated throughout Paris, and later - and throughout France. Exciting dance has been gaining popularity.

Actually, undress while dancing has been known since ancient times. Another Egyptian, performing a ritual dance in honor of the god Osiris, fully exposed. And Greek courtesan perfectly mastered the art of dance, during which threw off his clothes. And the myth of Salome, who first charmed her more than frank dance of King Herod Antipas, and then demanded his reward the head of John the Baptist, is widely known.

During the Middle Ages for such dancing women could fall into the hands of the Inquisition, as the maids of Satan. Nevertheless, dancing strip happens quite frequently as elements costumed celebrations, masquerades. Of course, they were officially prohibited, they relied severe penalties, but the clergy were forced to often turn a blind eye. After all, forbidden fruit is sweet, there's nothing to do about it. As even the highest hierarchy of the church, including popes, sometimes not neglected so innocent fun.

Over time, the influence of the church declined, the Inquisition generally gone down in history. Nevertheless, these dances were still banned. They were considered indecent, immoral. Therefore, this furor cancan, which appeared in Paris at the turn of the 20s - 30s of the 19th century. In an era when it was believed that a woman should not show even stranger men shoes, high flapping legs were regarded by many as a monstrous effrontery and shaking the foundations. However, gradually the cancan won recognition and popularity, becoming the "highlight of the program" in the already mentioned cabaret "Moulin Rouge". This institution was considered the unofficial symbol of freedom of manners, so it is not surprising that the first striptease occurred there.

Further evolution led to burlesque striptease - entertaining show with elements of musical vaudeville and cabaret. Initially dominated comic part of the program, but in the second quarter of the 20th century took the top strip. Dancers slowly takes off her clothes until they are in tiny shorts and blotches ornamental decorations that cover the nipples.
