Staphylococcus aureus in a child

Staphylococcus aureus in a child
Staphylococcus aureus scares many mothers, because its effects can be dangerous for the baby. But not many people really understand what kind of infection; which has manifestations; do not know the steps that need to be taken to protect the baby from the disease.

Staphylococcus aureus is a Gram-positive bacterium, which is one of the four most common in the world. This bacterium has long been resistant to penicillin antibiotics, it has a special enzyme, which protects it from exposure to the drug.

Children Staphylococcus aureus manifested in different ways: it may be skin lesions, boils, wounds fester, as complications of meningitis, pneumonia, sepsis.

This disease is highly pathogenic, since Staphylococcus aureus has a special enzyme which melts the outer layers of skin, and is easier to penetrate inside. Also aureus produces endotoxin, which poisons the body from the inside. Aggravating factor is the fact that a person has no immunity to the disease.

In children, this disease is very common, because children are the world "try by heart", often violate the rules of hygiene, forgetting to wash their hands. Plays a role is the fact that the overall immunity that prevents disease when it enters the body surface or skin, is much lower in children than in adults. At risk are those kids that suffer frequent colds and viral infections.

Any newborn may face aureus in the hospital, the prospect frightens many mothers and they prefer to give birth at home. But remember that staph infection is possible when it is sowed directly from the body (sores, blisters rash), but not with furniture or ceiling.

Please note that Staphylococcus aureus, found the child on the skin, does not necessarily indicate disease. Sick or not - it is a question of immunity (clean hands and objects in contact with that kid). Walk with him, play sports, eat properly and fully - all this will strengthen the children's immunity.
